At dawn’s break, I wake, Entering kairos—the eternal moment When night exhales its last breath, Awaiting the first light of day.In that timeless stillness, I sit, window open, Waiting, Hoping, Listening for the first bird’s song To pierce the darkness. Some might call it silly, This sitting, this waiting. Get on with the day’s work, the world demands. But for me, These moments are sacred. When the first melody floats through the air, A tear of joy slips down my cheek. In that instant, I remember to whom I belong, Why I exist. My heart beats in harmony With the songbird, Our souls lifting together In praise of the Source of all Being. But today, no bird sings at dawn— Only silence. Curious, I gaze out the window, Eyes tracing the sky. A solitary bird Glides across the horizon In a soundless flight through time. Hand on heart, I hold my breath in awe. Her silence is the message I need: Be still and know God. Stillness. Silence. For one eternal moment, I stand in reverence. My mind is at peace. And the bird and I are very happy. _________________________ Spiritual PracticeNotice the first bird’s song each day. Let it remind you of beauty and God’s abiding love and presence in your life. Let the songbird teach you that you are God’s song. Receive all as a gift and lift it up to the Creator with gratitude.—brian j. plachta brianplachta.com |
