The Sacred Gift of Stillness

Posted On March 6, 2026

Life moves quickly, and it’s easy to forget the power of simply being still. Yet in the quiet moments, when the noise fades and the striving softens, we often hear the voice that matters most.

This poem is an invitation to pause and return to that stillness.

Still. Just Be Still

I used to run—
after a career,
after love,
after the life I thought I needed to build.

Faster and faster and faster,
as if speed could save me,
as if striving could make me whole.

And somewhere along the way,
I forgot
to be still.

To be still and know God.
To be still long enough
for the noise to settle,
for the striving to loosen its grip.

To be still
until the go-mode within me
softens into rest.

To be still
until my mind
sinks gently into my heart
where the Whisper lives—
quiet, steady,
always there.

Maybe we are not just movement.
Maybe we are not just doing.
We are mind
and body
and spirit—
woven together
for rhythm,
not rush.

Somewhere along the way—
We forgot the pause.
We forgot the breath.
We forgot the sacred stillness
that restores us.

And so today—
We remember.
We return.
We choose to be still.

Still.

When Meditation Isn’t Working

There are mornings when the hardest thing isn’t getting started…it’s staying.
Staying with your thoughts. Staying in the quiet. Staying when nothing is resolving, shifting, or making sense.
This poem came out of one of those mornings. When everything in me wanted to run, but I stayed. And God met me there.

God Is Gravity

In a quiet moment, a simple image emerged: God is like gravity. Steady, present, and holding us long before we remember to reach. Beneath the noise and effort, that presence remains. This poem is a gentle invitation to return to it.
