| O One Who Sets our Hearts Free, have you truly overcome the world? I’m not sure. When I see people betrayed, lives shattered by war, hostages held in bondage, friends, co-workers, and family turning their backs on each other, I sometimes doubt what you say. Yet, you bid us to fear not, declaring before you left your earthly vessel that you have overcome the world. Now within our hearts dwells your Great Spirit—the One who teaches us all Truth, the One who is our Advocate, the One who guides our steps with Holy Wisdom—if we will listen and follow. But even those we trust seem to walk in the mire of mud. I fear the sludge will soon become quicksand and I will sink into darkness and despair. If you have indeed overcome the world as your words assure us, then take my weary heart into your loving, scarred hands. Kiss away the layers of anger and fear that too often grip me. Mold and fashion my Being with the balm of your unconditional love. Hold my heart in yours, calming and soothing my soul with the river of grace. Make all things new in me and in the world that seems to have forgotten you. “In this world, we will have trouble,” you proclaimed—such is the undeniable Truth. Help us. Awaken us to the deeper, Embodied Truth—that you dwell in us, and we in you, and nothing can separate us from the One Who Sets our Hearts Free. brian j plachta brianplachta.com PS–Click the link below and Injoy a Guided Meditation on “lamenting” as the pathway to transform your suffering into inner peace.
