This Week’s Focus:
Discovering your True Self—Your Inner Christopher Robin
Do you remember Kenny Loggins’ hit Back to Pooh Corner? I listened to it the other day after it popped up on my Pandora feed.
As a child, I admired Christopher Robin, Winnie the Pooh’s calm, wise companion who seemed to understand life in ways I couldn’t yet name. He carried a quiet confidence and a calm heart, grounded in love and wisdom, steady amid the swirl of life’s chaos that often engulfed the Hundred Acre Wood.
Now, as an adult walking the contemplative path, I realize Christopher’s more than an imaginary childhood friend. He’s a spiritual symbol—a picture of what it means to be grounded in God and live from our True Self.

The Calm at the Center of the Hundred Acre Wood
In the Winnie the Pooh stories, every character in the Hundred Acre Wood lives within Christopher Robin’s imagination. Yet Christopher isn’t tossed about by their moods or antics.
Instead, he brings order, gentleness, and reassurance. When Pooh gets stuck, when Eeyore loses his tail, when Tigger bounces too high, Christopher Robin shows up—steady, loving, and kind.
Spiritually speaking, Christopher Robin represents the Self grounded in God—the steady center within us that observes without judgment, loves without attachment, and holds every part of our personality in compassionate awareness. He’s what the mystics call the True Self—the part of us united with God in Divine Love.
As this True Self awakens, we see the difference between who we truly are and who we thought we had to be.
The False Ego—the mind-made self we’ve constructed over the years to protect, perform, or prove our worth—slowly loosens its grip. We no longer need to control or defend.
Instead, we let go, resting in the quiet confidence that our deepest identity is not what we do, but who we are in God.
From this space, our Inner Christopher Robin leads with peace, humility, and love—allowing every part of us to come home to wholeness.
When we live from that sacred center, the mind quiets. The emotions soften. A deeper wisdom rises. We become steady and spacious enough to let all of life move through us in the Divine Flow of God’s unfolding grace and loving guidance.

The Hundred Acre Wood Inside Us
Each Winnie the Pooh character reflects our own inner world:
- Pooh is our innocent, trusting heart that delights in simple gifts.
- Piglet is our tender, anxious self that longs for safety.
- Eeyore is our sad side that sometimes forgets joy.
- Tigger is our impulsive energy and enthusiasm.
- Rabbit is the rational mind that wants to control.
- Owl is intellect and wisdom.
- Kanga and Roo embody our inner child and curiosity.
Without a grounded center, these parts compete for attention. One day we’re all Tigger—full of bounce and bravado; the next, we’re Eeyore, heavy with sadness and doubt.
But when the Christopher Robin within is awake, each part finds its right place. None are exiled; none dominate. They all belong.
As we grow in awareness, we begin to recognize both the shadow side—the part of each character that can become excessive or out of balance—and the light side—the part that reflects harmony, courage, and love.
- Pooh’s hunger becomes healthy self-care instead of overindulgence.
- Eeyore’s melancholy softens into quiet compassion.
- Piglet’s fear transforms into gentle courage.
- Tigger’s restlessness turns into joyful enthusiasm.
When we welcome both the shadow and the light with love and awareness, the inner family comes into balance. Our True Self—our Christopher Robin—steps forward, guiding each part with calm wisdom and grace.
That’s the path of spiritual maturity: learning to stay grounded in God so our swirling emotions and false egos can settle, allowing love to lead the way—love for God, for ourselves, and for others.

The True Self: Steady, Grounded, and Free
Christopher Robin reminds us that our task isn’t to banish our inner characters but to befriend and balance them. He doesn’t scold Pooh for being simple or Eeyore for being sad. He listens, loves, and leads them with quiet wisdom.
That’s the work of daily Quiet Time and meditation—to let rise our inner Christopher Robin—the God-centered Self that holds everything together in love and wisdom.
When the mind stops trying to control and instead serves the deeper insights of the Spirit, the body, mind, and heart begin to move as one. We live in harmony. We live in Divine Flow.
In that sacred space, we discover that we’re not our fleeting feelings or racing thoughts. We are the loving awareness beneath them—the steady, unshakable presence of God within us.

Discover Your Inner Christopher Robin: A Simple Practice for Your Spiritual Toolbox
As you reflect on the characters within your own Hundred Acre Wood, you might notice which one has been most active lately—who’s been driving your thoughts or emotions. That’s your invitation to pause, breathe, and let your Inner Christopher Robin step forward.
That part of you, your Inner Self, knows how to listen with compassion, hold each part in love, and bring them back into harmony with God’s grace and guidance.
Here’s a way to put this into practice.
- Set aside a few quiet minutes.
- Close your eyes.
- Take several slow breaths.
- Ask yourself: Which of the Winnie the Pooh characters am I noticing within me right now?
- Is it Pooh’s hunger for comfort, Eeyore’s heaviness, Piglet’s timidity, or Tigger’s restless energy?
- Notice without judgment.
- Then gently invite your Inner Christopher Robin to step forward—the calm, grounded presence within you that knows how to bring balance, love, and wisdom to the moment.
- Sit in that quiet awareness for a while.
- Let your Inner Christopher hold all the parts of your personality in love until they settle into harmony.
Instead of living from your scattered, ego-driven self—the anxious Piglet, the gloomy Eeyore, or the overly busy Rabbit—Divine Flow begins in the stillness of daily Quiet Time and gentle reflection. In this sacred space, all the parts of you can rest together in God’s tender embrace and guiding wisdom.
Day by day, bit by bit, your True Self—your Inner Christopher Robin—awakens. God’s Presence becomes your Inner Teacher, guiding you from within with calm confidence and unconditional love.
