How to Practice Letting Go
Letting go isn’t a one-time act; it’s a spiritual practice. Here are some ways to practice letting go, letting God: Name What You’re Holding Onto Name what fear, shame, guilt, or attachment you’re clinging to. Say it aloud, write it down, and pray about it. You may want to journal about it. Acknowledge Your Desire for Control Ask yourself: Am I trying to fix, manage, or force something beyond my power? Recognize that some things are not yours to carry; they’re out of your control. Breathe and Release Stop and take a breath. Exhale your burdens and inhale peace. Use a mantra: I surrender. I trust. I release. Hand It Over to God Visualize placing your worries into God’s hands. Say: God, I give this to You. Lead me. You may want to write your worries on a slip of paper and then place the paper slips in a prayer jar or other container as a symbol you’re giving them to the Creator Practice Acceptance Letting go doesn’t mean passive resignation but accepting what is without resistance. Ask: How is God present in this moment? What is God inviting me to learn through this experience? Learn to Trust Even if uncertainty lingers, keep reminding yourself: God is working, even if we can’t see the results yet. Trust that love, not fear, is the guiding force in your life. Keep Practicing
Your problem or concerns might not resolve right away, but the more you practice, the more you’ll experience the deep peace that comes from truly letting go. You’ll create a quiet space within your heart where you can listen and receive God’s wisdom and guidance on how to handle each situation. So, what’s weighing on your heart today? Take a deep breath, hand it over to God, and trust the Creator to guide you. Let Go, Let God—and see what unfolds.
