| In Chapter 6 of my book Finding Flow—called “Can You Hear Me Now?”—I talked about how you can recognize and hear God’s voice. For me, God’s voice often comes as a gentle nudge in my heart, a quiet thought that feels wiser than my own, or a sense of peace that shows up out of nowhere. Hearing the voice of God isn’t about dramatic moments or grand revelations. Like tuning a piano or guitar, it takes time, patience, and a genuine desire to fine-tune our hearts. It’s the gentle, steady work of learning to recognize the subtle language of the Holy Spirit’s whispers within us. Divine Counseling: Tuning Our Hearts to God’s Voice Psychological counseling can help when we hit roadblocks—it can clear out the weeds of distorted thinking and reframe our perceptions with healthier patterns. But listening to God’s inner voice—the Voice of Love—goes even deeper. It moves beyond the mind into the sacred space of the heart, where the Holy Spirit speaks not in shouts, but in whispers. In that quiet presence, we don’t just think differently—we are invited to live differently. Listening to God’s Voice of Love allows us to tap into divine wisdom that far surpasses human reasoning. It opens us to receive insights, affirmations, and gentle guidance—nudges that help us navigate the ups and downs of daily life with greater clarity, courage, and compassion. It clears the noise around us and within us—the endless distractions, fears, and doubts—and anchors us in the stillness where God’s truth can be heard. In that sacred hush, wisdom arises. In that quiet presence, we are led home. Home to our soul—the inner compass within us. This week, consider creating a daily rhythm of taking time to listen, time to meditate, and time to follow the path Jesus and Brother Lawrence walked each day.
